Seth Killian Is Latest Real Life Fighting Game Personality To Appear In Divekick

May 24, 2013 by Matt Hawkins

But get this, he doesn’t dive, but instead teleports! Yet he still kicks.

Divekick is game by fight fanatics, for fight fanatics. Hence why the roster is filled with all sorts of personalities that are instantly recognizable to folks who frequent such circles. Including a guy who works for Mad Catz and a rejected Street Fighter 2 character. So whose next?

Why, one of the most widely recognized professional fighting game players of them all. None other than Seth Killian. Most know him as the former community manager for Capcom, who recently left to design games at Sony’s Santa Monica Studio.

But before that, he was one of the most famous Street Fighter fighters out there. So it's appropriate that Killian appears in the game as the final boss. His character is called S-Kill, which was the nickname he used back when he was still a competitive player.

As the story goes according to Destructoid, both Seth and Adam Heart, fellow pro fight fanatic and creator of Divekick, are old friends. Seth was one of the first people who saw the original Divekick prototype:

"He showed me a prototype of this game a long time ago… I said 'Obviously this is silly, and you're having a good time with it, but I think you're really on to something here.' This is fun and it legitimately boils down a lot of what's awesome about fighting games."

All the fighters sports their own unique attributes, despite the fact that there's only two real moves in the game: diving and kicking. And S-Kill is no different. And by the sounds of it, S-Kill appears to an end boss alright:

"He's definitely one of the trickier characters in the game. He doesn't really jump, he just teleports to different locations around the screen, and then [can] perform the dive. He's got some tricky moves on the ground, he can parry and then follow that up with a kill… So you have to be pretty quick, but he can really bait opponents out well."

No solid release date has been given for Divekick, which is still in development. It's also currently making the rounds, at most prominent fighting game tournaments, so it might be playing near you very soon.
