Angry Birds Movie Scribe’s List Of Credits Include Simpsons, SNL, Alvin And The Chipmunks

May 23, 2013 by Matt Hawkins

The Chipmunks aside, the dude’s actually a decent writer!

We all knew that a big screen, animated adaptation of one of the world's most popular smart phone games was coming. But some of the finer details are finally coming to light. In this case, who the person is who's writing the whole thing.

According to Joystiq, the scribe is Jon Vitti. Recognize the name? Maybe. He's actually been around the block and then some. Among his list of credits is The Simpsons. Not only that, but he's actually responsible for some of the very best ones, from the first couple of season. Remember the Mr. Plow episode? You can thank Vitti for that one.

He's also done episodes for The Critic, King of the Hill, The Larry Sanders Show, even The Office. Plus he used to be a writer on Saturday Night Live during the late 80s. Oh, and he also did the screenplay for The Simpsons Movie (which was surprisingly decent) and both Alvin and the Chipmunks flicks (which were not surprisingly somewhat awful).

So, at the very least, the Angry Birds movie is in somewhat competent hands. Though we'll have to see the final product to make the final call. And when will that be? When it arrives in theaters, on July 1, 2016.
