Retailer Lists ‘Dark Souls 2’ for July Release, But We Don’t Think It’s Legit

May 16, 2013 by Ian Miles Cheong

There’s just no way the game is coming out that soon.

Dark Souls 2

G2Play.net, a CD Key seller and online retailer has posted a Steam key pre-order for Dark Souls 2, dating the game for release at July 5, 2013—or 50 days from now.

Priced at 34.99 EUR, we believe that the very early release date may be a placeholder or in fact a way for the website to benefit sales for the website—and not the game's actual release date, which has yet to be announced.

Granted, there's good reason to believe that From Software would not release the game on current generation consoles after next-gen consoles are out, so the game has to come out at some point before November or December.

With that being said, there's little reason to believe that the game will be out just two months from now as Namco Bandai have given us little reason to believe it'll be out that soon.

Keeping in mind that both GameStop and Amazon both tag the game at a December release, it's safe to say that we shouldn't expect for the game to be out any time soon.
