In the latest blog, EA has shed light on one of it new features for FIFA 14 known as "Team Intelligence." The new feature will enable teams to attack and defend better in a more natural way comparable to real world matches. There will probably be more ways to score goals with your attackers making smart runs by creating space for themselves or their teammates, players might even go as far as checking their runs similar to what Van Persie does in quite a few games for United. Backing up on defenders to hold their position is also something that will enable the game to look and feel more realistic, I believe this addition in particular is going to be very interesting and I hope it also weighs in the ability of certain players like Drogba who can hold the ball really well as a frontman.
It's not just the attacking line that'll be at an advantage, defenders will also be smarter—tracking runs, applying pressure and better positioning have all been improved. Defenders will even analyze the game and close down or keep cover on the most dangerous threat they've recognized in the game.
Defensive pressure is something that has been worked on, now teammates will recognize opportunities where they can regain possession by applying pressure on the attacking team especially when the opponent is trying to run down the clock which could improve online matchmaking ten folds as I absolutely hate the idea of someone running down the clock with 30 minutes left in the game when he feels like he's about to lose the lead or the scripting feature is about to turn against them.
