Fans of Kojima Productions’ Zone of the Enders franchise may have to be satisfied with just the recent HD Collection if they’re looking for another robotic experience. Although the Metal Gear team had been working on a new entry in the well-regarded series, Hideo Kojima has revealed that the group behind the pre-production of the game has been dismantled and distributed across other projects in need of a hand.
This information was discovered in the most recent HideoBlog web radio show hosted by Konami, translated by Siliconera. While it was all fun and games when Hideo Kojima entered the radio show dressed as Moby Dick Studio CEO, Joakim N. Mogren, the atmosphere became a little more somber when discussion of the ZOE franchise was brought up. Through fan feedback, Kojima had learned that the Zone of the Enders HD Collection did not live up to fan standards, and that’s one of the main reasons why the poor framerate will be patched in the PlayStation 3 version.
What this rocky release has also caused is a complete halt to the Enders’s Project that was announced last year as a Zone of the Enders sequel. The group of developers devoted to crafting this new experience has been dismantled and placed on different games, as Kojima would like to re-evaluate the franchise before moving forward. Along with his own reflection, Kojima wants the fans to let him know if there’s still an interest in a new game in the franchise.
Which may be the biggest question. Do you want to see another Zone of the Enders game on next-gen consoles?
