Dead Island Riptide: Duplicate Weapons, Unlimited XP & Money Guide

April 23, 2013 by Ian Miles Cheong

Duplicate your weapons and attain unlimited experience and money in Dead Island Riptide with these guides.

Dead Island: Riptide is out, and boy is it ever the game for loot hoarders. As an action RPG, much of the game consists of hunting down powerful weapons, equipping them, and using said weapons to dispatch, or really, bash the brains out of every zombie from end-to-end of the island.

However, weapons do break, and broken weapons are just no good if you want to kill zombies uninterrupted. To that end, there's an exploit that allows you to simply duplicate your weapons so you'll never have to worry about durability.

To duplicate your weapon, simply go through the following steps:

1. Have a weapon in your inventory that you wish to duplicate.

2. While equipping the weapon, hold down the right trigger, and press the left trigger to throw the weapon.

3. When the weapon is in mid air, press the back button to go back into your inventory and unequip the weapon you're currently throwing.

4. Leave the inventory menu and pick up the weapon you threw.

As you can see, you now have two of the same weapon. You can repeat this as many times as you like.

As you can see in the video below, the exploit works as advertised:

Duplicating your weapons isn't the only exploit available in Dead Island: Riptide. You can also gain unlimited experience and money by using an exploit by farming canned foods and painkillers. To exploit the… well, exploit, you'll have to activate two sidequests: Heavenly Gift, and Kill the Pain. You'll get both sidequests after successfully defending the camp at the start of the game.

With both missions active, simply proceed through the game as you normally would until you meet Dr. Kessler, who will provide you with more missions to complete. When you've completed these missions, a fast travel point to the biosphere laboratory will become available. You'll have to go to this location repeatedly to farm the respawning items.

1. Simply head into the Mataka Village and pick up the two pieces of canned food and one painkiller.

2. Use the fast travel to go to Marik's Marina and pick up one piece of canned food and one painkiller, both located in the house behind the spawning area.

Once you've picked up both items, simply head back to the biosphere laboratory and repeat the process. Get as many painkillers and canned foods as you possibly can before returning to Halai Village to complete the quests at Chimamanda and Houston for tons of experience points and money.

Keep in mind that you won't be able to repeat the quests, so be sure to stock up on the items before turning them in.

The following video contains the locations of the painkillers and canned foods.
