Saints Row 4 Pre-orders Give Players Commander in Chief Edition, Bonuses Detailed

April 23, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

Those who want to put money down on the newest Saints Row game will be rewarded.

Deep Silver, the new publisher of the Saints Row franchise, wants you to pre-order its game. Instead of tempting players with an online pass or single piece of in-game memorabilia that grows stale after a few hours of play, people who pre-order Saints Row 4 will be upgraded to the red, white, and blue Commander in Chief Edition. This premium package will feature some of the most patriotic items ever conceived, including a new suit, massive weapon, and tricked-out jet.

Included in the Commander in Chief Edition will be the Uncle Sam Suit, which covers players from head to toe in a seriously nationalistic garb. The new digs are welcomed, but those more focused on the game’s combat should gravitate to the 'Merica, which stuffs some of the game's most recognizable weapons–such as the dubstep gun and rocket launcher—into a single, deadly contraption. Last but not least is the Screaming Eagle Jet, which, as you’d guessed, looks like a giant eagle. This piece of aviation fires rockets from its sharp talons and sends forth an ear-shattering, disabling shriek.

Similar to every other piece of the Saints Row puzzle, this pre-order incentive is ridiculous. This style of humor may turn some potential buyers off, but Volition senior producer Jim Boon sees the wacky nature of this open-world game as one of its biggest selling points.

“Ultimately, I don't think that Saints Row's tone gets in the way of bigger sales. If anything, I think our tone is an element of our success,” he said.

Since it is an upgrade for pre-ordering the product, the Commander in Chief Edition will cost $59.99 on console and $49.99 on PC. Saints Row 4 will be launching on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC August 20.
