MCV Awards EA Best Sales Team, Traveller’s Tales Best UK Studio

April 22, 2013 by Jordan Erica Webber

2K Games apparently has the best PR team.

Last Friday, MCV hosted its 2013 awards ceremony, at which it hands out what it calls “the trade's most coveted awards”. The awards focus on the business side of things as opposed to what is supposedly the “best game” of any particular genre, so it's an interesting look at who the “panel of peers and senior execs” considers to be doing a good job.

For example, GAME won the award for Specialist Retailer, which might seem surprising given the troubles the company has been through but is less so when you try to think of an alternative winner. Amazon winning Mainstream Retailer is hardly a surprise either, though you might expect the controversy with its tax payment to have some effect. Steam winning Digital Retailer is another no-brainer.

Electronic Arts (EA) apparently has the best sales team, which is impressive for the “worst company in America”. Traveller's Tales, which has primarily made Lego games for the past few years, got the award for best UK games studio. Check out the full list of winners below:
