Splinter Cell Blacklist Trailer Showcases Sam Fisher’s New Abilities

April 15, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

A new trailer has been released by Ubisoft that shows off some of Sam Fisher’s tricks.

In the world of video games, special agents don’t seem to be too affected by old age. Solid Snake didn’t seem to bat an eye at his much younger opposition in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and now Sam Fisher is continuing the trend of deadly old men in Splinter Cell Blacklist. A new trailer has just been released by Ubisoft showcasing a few of Fisher’s key, deadly abilities that will be accessible in the final game.

Taking place after 2010’s Conviction, President Patricia Caldwell has ordered the Third Echelon to silently terminate all its operations. From the ashes of this well-worn group rises the Fourth Echelon, which is similar to it predecessor in that it’s an elite group of well-trained operatives grabbed from a handful of select agencies. Their specialzed missions are handed down directly by the President herself, but the true commander of the group is none other than agent Sam Fisher.

All the lethal, brutal actions you’ve seen Fisher perform in the past will be in this year’s Blacklist, but there was a particular tactic that was removed due to strong public feedback. There was once an interrogation scene in the game where Fisher first broke the arm of an enemy, restrained him, and plunged a knife in his shoulder. That type of content has since been pulled.

However, fans can still look forward to enjoying the other, less-distasteful actions this summer, as Splinter Cell Blacklist will be making its way to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U August 20.
