PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Tops 26 Million Copies Sold

February 7, 2018 by Jordan Coetsee

PUBG hits another new milestone.

PUBG Corp’s hit battle-royale title, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has just hit it’s the latest milestone. Announcing earlier today, the third-person shooter has over 26 million copies between PC and Xbox One. When it comes to hours spent, players have been dropping in and trying to survive for over 2.7 billion hours in-game.

So far, the highest concurrent player count sits at 3.15 million players who have had 2.3 billion care packages delivered. In terms of weapons, the M416 is a favourite among players while the UAZ is the preferred mode of transport.

It still baffles me how popular this game has become in such a short space of time. From launching mid-year in 2017 it has easily risen to the top of paid-for shooters, without the need for a massive budget or triple-A development team.

PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS is a last-man-standing shooter being developed with community feedback. Starting with nothing, players must fight to locate weapons and supplies in a battle to be the lone survivor. This realistic, high tension game is set on a massive 8×8 km island with a level of detail that showcases Unreal Engine 4’s capabilities.

PLAYERUNKNOWN aka Brendan Greene, is a pioneer of the Battle Royale genre. As the creator of the Battle Royale game-mode found in the ARMA series and H1Z1 : King of the Kill, Greene is co-developing the game with veteran team at Bluehole to create the most diverse and robust Battle Royale experience to date

PUBG is out now for PC and Xbox One.
