Minecraft Sells 6 Million on XBLA

March 28, 2013 by Stephen Daly

The port achieves sales of over 6 million as retail version on the way.

4J Studios, the developer of the XBLA version of Minecraft, has announced sales of the port have exceeded 6 million.

Making the announcement on Twitter 4J said:

Mojang the game's original developer, has revealed the massive success of the game across the PC, Xbox 360 and mobile platforms with 500,000 copies being sold on Christmas Day last year alone.

The game's very impressive sales could be further boosted if the title arrives on PlayStation platforms.

Mojang's Jens Bergensten told iGamer "Microsoft has an exclusivity deal for consoles. When it runs out we'll consider Minecraft for PlayStation, but Wii U is very unlikely."

A retail version of the game on Xbox 360 is due to arrive in stores on April 30th.
