Fantasy Life Trademark Suggests Release Outside Japan

March 20, 2013 by Stephen Daly

A European trademark for Fantasy Life hints the game may be bound for the West.

A trademark for Level 5's Fantasy Life has sparked hope the game will see a release outside Japan where it launched in December

Siliconera has learned that the filing was sent to the European trade marks body, known as OHIM, on March 12th. A filing with the US Office of Patents and Trademarks has not yet been found.

Level 5, the publisher of Professor Layton and Inazuma Eleven has a solid record for localising its releases. Brownie Brown, the game's developer, created a cross between a simulation and a role playing game with Fantasy Life allowing players to choose fishermen, miners or magicians to explore the game's world while confronting the monsters they discover on their journey.

Gamers are also able to smith weapon and forge armour before taking on the role of a knight.

Fantasy Life flew off the shelves in Japan with the publisher apologising to fans for shortages of the game in some stores. The title is believed to have sold an impressive 134,000 copies in its first week of release.

You can watch the game's trailer below.
