PUBG Corporation CEO Wishes to See a Movie Adaptation; “I’d Like PUBG to Become a Universal Media Franchise Based on the Game”

No one can deny the massive following PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds managed to garner since its release on Early Access. Fans have made cosplays, esport competitions, animated shorts and much more. However, PUBG Corporation CEO Chang Han Kim is keen on giving the title a shot at the big screen.

In a recent interview with Inven Global, he discussed the possibility of turning PUBG into a movie. He admitted that it’s not too far fetched, since “a number of developers in Hollywood and Netflix” actually opened talks with the studio regarding the matter.

“I’d like PUBG to become a universal media franchise based on the game. We want to take part in diverse industries including dsports, movies, drama, cartoons, animation, and more. In fact, we received a couple of love calls from a number of developers in Hollywood and Netflix. Our dream is to build a new game-based culture through various ways like this, and have the lead of that culture.”

In other news, cheat detection software BattlEye managed to ban more than 1.5 million PUBG players as of December 28, with the majority coming from China. Would PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds work as a movie? or would it be better as a Netflix series?
