Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm Unit Guides

March 12, 2013 by Ian Miles Cheong

These guides offer a look at the Terran Hellbat, Protoss Mothership Core, and Zerg Swarm Host.

Heart of the Swarm

Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm is out, and with it, so too are a series of unit guides by ShokzSC on YouTube which provide an in-depth explanation of some of the game's new units in multiplayer. These include the newly playable Zerg Swarm Host, Protoss Mothership Core, and Terran Hellbat—all of which are new additions to the game's multiplayer mode.

Anyone who's played through the Terran single-player campaign in Wings of Liberty may be familiar with the flame-throwing Hellbat unit, which was originally a part of the game's multiplayer unit ensemble in the first Starcraft.

The guides prepared by ShokzSC go cover the units' strengths, weaknesses, special abilities and counters and analyze pro-gamer videos released prior to the game's release.

Like the rest of the game, the new additions are not analogous to each other and serve different purposes in the battlefield for each of their host races. Starcraft 2 is the only real-time strategy game to offer three distinct races, each with unique game mechanics—it's one of the hardest games to master.

Heart of the Swarm takes place after the events of Wings of Liberty and puts players in control of Kerrigan's Zerg legions this time around. Throughout the game's single-player campaign, players can choose to evolve their Zerg army according to their play-style with a variety of options that serve to innovate the real-time strategy genre.

The game is available for the PC and Mac. You'll need an original copy of Starcraft 2 to play it.
