Black Ops 2 New Boosting Method Allows Players to Cheat For Points

February 26, 2013 by Ian Miles Cheong

Players can quickly acquire tens of thousands of points using a new boosting method.

Black Ops 2

Like its predecessors in the Call of Duty series, Black Ops 2 has long been subject to “boosting”, a term used to describe players who essentially exploit their way into getting experience points in a relatively short period of time—at least in comparison to regular play. It’s when players team up to attain a lot of experience points and raise their prestige levels without playing the game as they normally would. It’s a form of cheating, and it’s rightfully condemned by the game’s community.

While Treyarch has been quick to fix various methods of boosting, more devious players have found new ways to boost. In a game that’s as complex as Black Ops 2, it’s not surprising that these loopholes still exist.

The latest method, seen in the video below, shows how players can boost using the game’s Trophy System, an anti-air weapon that destroys airborne projectiles. Watching the points scroll is like watching a slot machine.

In case you can’t watch the video, here’s how it’s done:
– Grab a friend and have them equip a Lodestar and a Trophy System.
– Equip the Black Hat and hack your friend’s Trophy System.
– Have your friend destroy the Trophy System as soon as you hack it.
– Your friend calls in the Lodestar and you get tons of points for every second it stays online.

It’s curious as to how anyone would have the patience to figure an exploit like this out in the first place, but when you’re playing a game for over ten hours a day, you’re bound to find something that skirts the rules.
