The Silver Snipers Are The Oldest Team In CS:GO And They Mean Business

November 27, 2017 by Jordan Coetsee

Meet the Silver Snipers.

When e-sports comes up as a topic of conversation, people usually have a profile for this modern profession with the most common characteristic of the profile is that they are probably young (usually around 18 – 23).

While yes this is the mostly the case for most competitive teams, but for the Silver Snipers, it isn’t. The Swedish CS:GO has an average age of 71 and aims at taking the crown during this year’s DreamHack Winter.

While the team may not have highest play-time in the game (with the average being 69 hours), they are extremely dedicated to making it work – so much so that the team even hired a professional gamer to coach them. Tommy ‘Potti’ Ingermarsson, who was a prominent player for Ninjas in Pyjamas in the early 2000s, has been offering his expertise to a new kind of team.

In comparison, the average age of the current Ninjas in Pyjamas team (Sweden’s favorites and recent champions) is 24. This means that the average age of a competitor in the Silver Snipers is triple that of a player in Ninjas in Pyjamas.

The youngest player on the team is Monica ‘Teen Slayer’ Idenfors who is 62 years old, who has the most hours played with 69. The oldest is Bertil ‘Berra-Bang’ Englund, who is 81 with 55 hours played and a K/D ratio of 0.55, reports Dexerto.

While yes, they probably won’t get far in the tournament it’s always awesome to see stories of the older generation partaking in modern gaming. Thoughts on this iconic team? Let us know in the commnets below.
