Even in the midst of all this PS4 excitement, Sony is still sticking with its PlayStation Mobile New Year Giveaway, which started six weeks ago and is now in its last week. From today, for the next six or seven days, you can download OMG-Zombies! for free from the PlayStation Store, to play on your Vita or other PlayStation-certified mobile device.
This game is black and white and red all over, with monochrome scenery painted with zombie blood. As far as I can tell from a quick try, you play by looking over an enclosed crowd of zombies and try to get as many as you can with limited ammunition. Here's the description on the PlayStation Store:
“Alert! Alert! OMG-Zombies! The City of Redfield has been hit by an outbreak of exploding zombies! For cool and unimportant reasons these suckers literally explode when shot, showering their zombie brethren with gore and causing chain reactions of showering zombie gibs with just a single bullet!”
So if that's your sort of thing, go for it. On my Vita, the “New Year Giveaway” button doesn't currently take you to the page for OMG-Zombies! (instead directing you to last week's free non-game, Beats Trellis), but you can easily find the game under the Shooter category, where there is only one other title.
This is the last of these free giveaways, so it's time for Sony to see whether the plan to get people interested in PlayStation Mobile has worked. Are you more interested in these cheap games than you were before? Or are you still put off by the pitiful selection?
