Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Set Up New Label; Responsible for Harry Potter Games on Consoles and Mobile

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment recently announced a new label, which will be responsible for developing Harry Potter titles for both consoles as well as mobile devices.

Portkey Games, the new label’s name, is completely dedicated to the Harry Potter universe and everything surrounding the magical Hogwarts. Portkey Games’ President David Haddad expressed his excitement to start working on Harry Potter games, and continued to reassure fans that their games will “focus on player-generated stories.”

With Portkey Games, we are thrilled to answer the fans’ requests for more games inspired by J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World. We are working with talented creators to build games that focus on player-generated stories, which will live alongside the magical universe created by J.K. Rowling.

Warner Bros. provided a brief explanation on why they chose to name the label Portkey Games, and it is because portkeys were used in Harry Potter to help wizards travel from one place to another in no time.

So named because Portkeys transport wizards from place to place, Portkey Games will give Harry Potter fans the chance to be transported into the wizarding world and placed at the centre of their own adventure. The games will vary from mobile to console games, and will feature both new characters and – excitingly – could feature familiar characters ‘at different points in their lives’ from the Harry Potter stories.

As well as the familiar, you’ll also be able to visit new locations and explore new story elements, again, all inspired by the wizarding world.

When do you think will we see our first glimpse of a new Harry Potter title?
