SimCity Second Beta Announced, Now Taking Registrations

February 8, 2013 by Ian Miles Cheong

A second beta has been announced for the SimCity reboot.

Maxis has announced today its plans to hold a second closed beta for SimCity on February 16. Like the first closed beta, the test will run over the weekend. The test will only run for 24 hours, beginning at 9am EST on Saturday, February 16, to 9am EST on Sunday, February 17.

Players interested in giving the game a whirl can sign up for the closed beta on the official SimCity website. The registrations close on February 11, so you have a few days to sign up.

According to Maxis, the 24 hour-long test will be an enhanced version of the previous test, with bug fixes and changes to the gameplay which were the result of feedback received from beta testers. As before, players will only be able to experience SimCity for an hour at a time.

The beta announcement follows yesterday's release of a trailer for the Limited Edition of SimCity's "Heroes and Villains" bonus content, which you can see here.

SimCity is set for release in North America on March 5, and on March 7 for the rest of the world for the PC. A Mac version is also currently in the works and will be released shortly thereafter.
