There are many light night television viewers who are not the least impressed with the Jimmy Fallon's version of Late Night, the program that immediately follows the Tonight Show on NBC and which used to be where both David Letterman and Conan O'Brien rose to stardom.
But even his most ardent haters (full disclosure: I'm one such person) cannot deny how Fallon does much to showcase video games, and the people behind them, on network television to a degree that basically no one else can come close.
Granted, the jokes that spring forth from his interactions are as lame as the rest of his shtick (and who can forget the time he mistakenly identified the Wii U as an attachment for the Wii), but that shouldn't deter anyone from tuning in this Thursday night, January 31st. Because, as Polygon reports, that's when the Oculus Rift will be demoed.
The above is the virtual reality headset, all neatly packed, before making its network television debut. It'll be interesting to see how the demo will be conveyed to the viewing audience at home. It's been almost impossible for game journalists to truly convey the experience of the Oculus Rift, despite many very good attempts.
Perhaps Fallon can articulate it in a manner that no one has thought of yet? Or maybe we'll just get some lazy (and super old) Matrix jokes? My bet is the latter.
