Blizzard has just released the opening CGI cinematic for StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm and par for the course for Blizzard, it looks damn fantastic!
Watch as the Queen of the Blades and her Zerg minions rush the Terran forces and seemingly crush them with no challenge whatsoever. For those not familiar with StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty's storyline, the plot of this upcoming expansion picks up two years after the events of Wings of Liberty. It will highlight the Zerg race and feature Sarah Kerrigan as the protagonist and anti-hero, which you can plainly see in the trailer.
The actual campaign starts with Kerrigan's quest to assume leadership of the swarm in her regained human form and extract her revenge on Arcturus Mengsk, Emperor of the Terran Dominion.
While the actual game won't look nowhere close to the opening cinematic, it still manages to be exciting. Heck, what they showed now really reminds me of Gears of War's Locust and Locust Queen for some reason, which isn't a bad comparison, I think.
StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm is set for a March 12 release for the PC.
