Sims 3 University Life’s Jocks, Rebels, and Nerds Explained

January 18, 2013 by Jordan Erica Webber

Each social group has its own favourite hangout and hobbies

A new blog post on The Sims 3 website provides more information on the upcoming expansion pack The Sims 3 University Life, this one about the new social groups included in the pack. As we've been told in previous blog posts, these three groups are: Jocks, Rebels, and Nerds. Jocks and Nerds are fairly obvious, and Rebels seems to encompass hippies, indies, and that sort of thing into one. The post offers a little more detail on each.

Apparently, Jocks in The Sims 3 prefer a more sedated sport, as they often hang out in the new bowling alley venue. They're also said to like table tennis, scoring with cute Sims, and throwing “some of the best parties on campus”.

Rebels are into herbs, and not in the way you might think (presumably to avoid having to elevate the game's Teen rating), but for throwing on bonfires. They'll also “tag” walls, and hang out at “The Grotto” where they can play pool or drink an “organic brew”.

Nerds are pretty standard. They like to play video games, conduct research, take part in trivia challenges, and “berate other Sims for their ignorance”. Nice. Their favourite hangout is a comic book store, which has comics, arcade machines, and computers galore.

But potentially the best thing about all of this is that your Sim won't be limited to hanging out with just one of these groups (as so often seems to happen in real life), but can divide his or her time up between the three.
