Nintendo Reveals Release Dates For Pikmin 3, LEGO City Undercover, And Other Games

It’s an exciting year for fans of Nintendo, as the publisher has many games planned for release on the Wii U. Today, Nintendo released a calendar of its upcoming game launches to give us a solid idea of what to expect.

The Wii U starts its colossal lineup of games this year with the release of LEGO City Undercover. Dated for a March 18 release, the game is exclusive to the Wii U. The game is essentially Grand Theft Auto with LEGO characters in it, and puts players in the role of one Chase McCain, a “tough-as-nails police officer who is also a master of disguise.” Players will be able to explore an open world not unlike Liberty City, using vehicles from real world LEGO playsets.

The release of LEGO City Undercover is followed up by the release of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate [link to my post], an action RPG for both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Players will delve into a fantasy world where they’ll hunt monsters and upgrade their gear to hunt even bigger monsters, either alone or in four player co-op.

Originally planned for release on November 20 last year, Nintendo’s Pikmin 3 has been given an official release window from now until the end of March 2013. It’s the third game in the series and Nintendo’s only real-time strategy game on the platform. It’ll be out around the same time as The Wonderful 101, Game & Wario, and Wii Fit U.
