Street Fighter X Mega Man V2 On The Way, Mega Man Legends 1 & 2 Might Be Re-Released Eventually As Well

January 16, 2013 by Matt Hawkins

But in the case of the latter, it ain’t gonna be easy, that’s for sure.

After being marginalized for seemingly forever, the cries of Mega Man's most loyal contingency are being listened to by Capcom. Somewhat.

First comes word that version 2 of Street Fighter X Mega Man is due this Friday, according to Capcom Unity. In addition to roughing out many of the edges of version 1, a number of bugs will be squashed, controller support will be improved, plus M. Bison will be made stronger. Though best of all is the addition of a Mega Man 2-style password feature.

Second is the notion of Mega Man Legends 1 & 2 being re-released, which had long been pegged as impossible by Capcom themselves. Yet both games recently appeared in a survey that the publisher began distributing, to gauge interest in possible future releases.

Though it won't be easy. Rockman Corner explains it all; basically, PSN releases are not possible due to Capcom no longer having licensing rights to certain vocal performances in the games. So the solution seems simple enough, just swap in new performances, but that's a solution that's also on the costly side of things.

Not only that, but Sony also prohibits developers from altering PSone code for the PlayStation Network, for whatever reason. Meaning, not only must money go towards new voice acting, but also porting the code to another platform Still, the possibility is there, otherwise Capcom would have never listed them in their survey to being with.

So if enough people say yes, who knows? Stranger things have happened.
