Ever wanted to play a photo-realistic Jurassic Park game? The folks over at Project Crynosaurs is doing just that by making a Jurassic Park game using Crytek's CryEngine 3.
While the project itself is nowhere close to being finished, the team has now released a tech demo showing off what to expect. The video, which you can see below, shows the user controlling a "compsognathus" and roaming around a virtual jungle. Keep in mind that this is still an early build of a tech demo so there are a few bugs to deal with (via DSOGaming).
Project Crynosaurs is being developed for free, but the team did admit that they're interested in making a commercial game based on the progress they make with the tech demo and gauging how popular it is.
So, if you want to download the demo, go visit their official site, though it's down now since they're being hammered by bandwidth issues. This demo is free for everyone and all you need is a CryDev account to be able to try it.
What do you think? I admit, the foliage and other greenery's textures need a bit more work, but this is an early stage of production so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. Who knows, though? Maybe if these guys do a bang-up job, it might even impress Crytek themselves to hire them or use their idea for a game, right?
