As we reported a couple of days ago, a number of players who picked up the Crimson Map Pack DLC for Halo 4 complained about being banned. The complaints were lodged on the game's official forums, and were acknowledged by 343 Industries.
The studio has since released its findings about the bans and has issued a statement on the matter. According to the studio, no more than 200 gamers were affected by the bans, which disabled them from playing Halo 4 online.
The Crimson Map Pack is available for free to anyone who purchased the Limited Edition of Halo 4, and is a part of the War Games Season Pass. As some users were unable to rightfully download it for free, they followed a workaround which lead to their bans.
The statement, which was originally posted to Kotaku, reads as follows:
"There was a situation yesterday (Sunday) in which less than 200 Halo 4 users were being incorrectly banned from accessing certain parts of the game (not banned from Xbox LIVE as a whole), and we have since resolved the issue. All players accounts impacted are working as normal."
Further details can be found at the game's Halo Waypoint forums.
