Likelihood of E.X. Troopers Being Released In The West Is Extremely Slim

December 14, 2012 by Matt Hawkins

Sorry, but us Americans are not getting Lost Planet High School: The Anime.

Given how Capcom is trying their best to build up the Lost Planet franchise in the East, you'd think there would be a similar initiative underway in the West. Specifically, a release of E.X. Troopers for North American and European territories.

If that was indeed the case, it would have been announced from the get-go, but gamers on this side of the Pacific have been patently waiting with bated breath. Unfortunately, according to things are not looking good.

According to Christian Svensson, Senior Vice President of strategic planning and business development at Capcom, over at Capcom Unity:

"It was not planned for Western release… you can tell this because all of the text is "hard coded" as actual art. The text isn't just standard "text" that could be swapped relatively easily. To localize a release, one would have to redo a ton of art in the game, not just do the localization and loc QA."

The person who posed the question framed it by pointing out how E.X. Troopers has underperformed in Japan. Which would lead one to think that, wanting to make some money from the game, a US release might be what sets things right.

Though if their treatment of Mega Man over the past few years is any indication, I think we all know Capcom's point of view when it comes to potential cash cows: they are blind like a bat.
