Naruto Spotted in Project Versus J Image

December 13, 2012 by Ian Miles Cheong

Naruto Uzumaki has been spotted in a new screenshot of Project Versus J.

Project Versus J is a new fighting game currently in development at Namco Bandai Games that's set to include characters from numerous—and I do mean NUMEROUS—Japanese anime and manga.

A teaser image for the game, which was "revealed" during the game's announcement, depicted Luffy from One Piece, Goku from Dragon Ball Z, and the eponymous Toriko from Toriko.

Shonen Jump, upon which Project Versus J is based, is taking votes from its readers to determine which Jump heroes will make the cut. Their other franchises include Hunter x Hunter, Naruto, Gintama, Bleach, and Dr. Slump.

The latest character to make it into the roster is Naruto Uzumaki. The reveal comes in the latest issue of Shonen Jump, which includes a very tiny picture of the character in a screenshot blown up several times its size to show detail of the character (thanks to Saiyanisland). You can see the character highlighted under the big yellow arrow.

It should come as little surprise as Naruto is one of Shonen Jump's biggest and most popular characters. There's little reason to think that they'd leave him out of the game, as his omission would've been more surprising than his inclusion.

Project Versus J is currently in development for the Sony PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Vita. A release date for the game has yet to be announced in any territory, but we expect that if it's anything like the Naruto Storm games, it'll eventually find its way to the west.
