Mew-Genics Gets a Fast-Paced Title Theme

December 10, 2012 by Jordan Erica Webber

The music is being written and composed by Matthias Bossi and Jon Evans

Now that all of the characters whose silhouettes appeared in that original teaser image – Mr. Tinkles and Dr. Beanies, Frank, Tracy, and Butch – have been revealed, Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes (a.k.a. Team Meat, indie creators of Super Meat Boy and stars of Indie Game: The Movie) have started to release more details for their upcoming game Mew-Genics.

Last week, we learned that beside those five human characters the game will also feature over 12,207,031,250,000,000,000,000 cats, i.e. that many possible different combinations of variables that affect how a cat looks in the game. And, McMillen points out, that doesn't even include ability variables or personality, which will be affected by such things as “their childhood”. It looks like we've got a seriously complex breeding game on our hands.

This week, the team has provided some of the music for the game, which is being written and composed by Matthias Bossi – the narrator from The Binding of Isaac, also from the band Sleepy Time Gorilla Museum – and Jon Evans. This video features the title screen track for the game, a fast-paced piece of music called “Cat Chase”. What do you think? Does it make you want to “breed em all”?
