Halo 4 Crimson Map Pack Update Includes Three New Maps, Extraction Mode

November 29, 2012 by Ian Miles Cheong

A new online mode comes with the release of three new maps for Halo 4.

Halo 4

343 Industries has just released a trailer for the first ever map pack for Halo 4. Titled the "Crimson Map Pack", the DLC is set for release on December 10 on the Xbox 360 (where else?) for 800 MS Points or $10. The map pack is also a part of the War Games Map Pass, which costs $25 and entitles you to this DLC and every subsequent one. Those with the Limited Edition of the game will get this all for free.

The Crimson Map Pack is set to include three new maps. These include Wreckage, a "ravaged environment of crashed debris," presumably made out of wreckage from the Forward Unto Dawn and its Covenant attackers within the game's single player campaign; Harvest, a location on the planet where humanity and the UNSC first encountered the Covenant aliens; and Shatter, a UNSC mining facility.

Anyone who purchases the map pack will earn access to a playlist exclusively listing the new maps.

In addition to the three new maps, the release of the Crimson Map Pack will be held alongside the launch of a new multiplayer mode called Extraction. In Extraction, two teams of players must extract assets from various points around the map by holding those hardpoints. To earn points, players must plant a beacon at specific points around the map and defend them.

A video of the Crimson Map Pack can be seen below.
