You Won’t Kill Anyone in Insomniac’s Spider-Man; “That’s Not the Game We Want to Make”

Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man was present with full force during E3, and the latest gameplay trailer blew us all away. Even though Spider-Man beat up a lot of bad guys throughout his crime-fighting career, he won’t kill anyone in his upcoming endeavours. Insomniac Games Creative Director Bryan Intihar spoke with Kotaku during E3 and revealed that the studio decided to ditch any killing animations from the game.

It’s certain scenarios we’ve put him in, certain abilities he’ll do during combat to prevent people from dying…So whether it’s about deciding where stuff gets placed or how it unfolds, Spider-Man’s not gonna be killing people. That’s not the game we want to make.

He continued to discuss Peter Parker’s role in the story, and it looks like we will get to see him quite often throughout the story.

It can’t just be Spider-Man 100 percent of the time…Peter Parker is integral to the character. In our game, you’re gonna see Peter a lot in story and in gameplay. He has a job. He just graduated college, and he has his first job as a scientist.

Spider-Man is expected to release in 2018 exclusively for the PS4.
