Halo 4 Sniper Tips & Tricks

November 20, 2012 by Alex Co

Need help when it comes to sniping in Halo 4? Watch the videos for tips…

Is there a loadout and class more reviled in multiplayer FPS games than the sniper? Normally, they camp way out, far from the objective and pick people out one at a time. Regardless if it's a military shooter or a game like Halo 4, snipers are very annoying to deal with.

So, why not join their ranks instead? In the two videos shown below, we'll help you on your first step in becoming a mean sniper in Halo 4's multiplayer.

One major difference when it comes to sniping in Halo 4 is how everyone can jump around and just act like the guns they're carrying are toy guns. This is not a knock on the game, but rather, just letting you know that "jump shots" are easier to pull of here. Of course, you also have to consider that the enemy can move faster compared to other shooters, too.

In this first video by HaloReachTutor, he gives pointers on how snipers can start out and how they can use the sniper effectively even if they can't pull of headshots that well. Honestly, the solution is quite simple and one that can be used for sniper classes in other shooters as well. Whenever you hit someone on the body, just quickly switch to your secondary weapon to finish them off instead of lining up your shot again. Of course, this more on those close-up encounters.

Here's the first video which you can use as a good jumping point.

Quite impressive, no? He also shows you how to snipe "blind," and what to do when enemies are closing in.

In this second video, Bingegaming shows us sniper gameplay with a running commentary on how he adjust and acts to each situation. It's focused more on gameplay than actually teaching you, but there are good tips in here nonetheless. One thing he does quite well is knowing when to attack and when to back away. It's easy to just poke your head out and try to snipe everyone that moves, but once the enemy knows where you're coming from, try to vary your angle of attack and don't be predictable. This not only applies in Halo 4, but in multiplayer FPS' in general.

Also, he focuses more on location to make use of his sniping skills. Give the video a watch below.

There you have it. Hopefully this helps you in your quest to be a better sniper in Halo 4. Who knows? Maybe after watching these videos you'll be "that guy" that everybody hates because you're so good in long-range combat?
