The Legend of Zelda Breath Of The Wild Director Believes Zelda Games Should be Open World from Now On

Nobody can deny The Legend of Zelda Breath Of The Wild took the world by storm when it released alongside Nintendo’s newest console, the Nintendo Switch. The game captivated us with its unique art style, vast lands and wonderful scenery. This was the first title in the franchise’s history to be developed as an open world game.

Game director Hidemaro Fujibayashi was recently featured in an interview with Gamerant, where he discussed the game’s open world design. He believes the studio should develop all Zelda games from now on with an open world design, due to the massive success Breath Of The Wild achieved.

We can’t really say much at the moment but there are lots of things in this current game design we still want to explore. If, as a result of that exploration, we feel positive we can provide our audience with new experiences it’s possible this design could become the standard.

I don’t think anybody would oppose this idea so we will just have to wait and see the studio’s decision on whether they want to continue developing open world Zelda games.
