Futuristic racing game Distance has hit its funding target on Kickstarter, with only a couple of days to go. With $135,349 pledged at the time of writing, the campaign has just scraped past its target of $125,000. The developers at Refract Studios – who worked with others as Team Nitronic to create Nitronic Rush – must be breathing a sigh of relief as they get ready to properly develop this arcade-style game.
Distance is a “survival racing game” for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Besides the fast-paced racing, with futuristic cars that can fly through the air, the focus is on the exploration of the atmospheric world the team hopes to create. And with one of the artists from Nitronic Rush on the team, they shouldn't have much of a problem in producing the same kind of look and feel.
If you want to see what Distance will probably be a lot like, you can download Nitronic Rush for free from the website. If you like what you see, and think you'd like to see more, you've still got 38 hours to make a pledge towards the Kickstarter campaign. Though the game has hit its target, and so should be on track to be released next year whether you donate or not, you can secure yourself access to the early beta and your own copy of the game by pledging $15.
