Following our post the other day that Black Ops 2 managed to sell over 10,000 units in five minutes over in the U.K., GameStop president Tony Bartel told Bloomberg that "Black Ops 2’ is shaping up to be our biggest game launch of all time," and adds, "GameStop sold more than 1 million units worldwide during our midnight launch period."
In relation to that, Michael Olson, analyst with Piper Jaffray Cos. states that based on retailer checks, Black Ops 2 will probably sell between 6.5 million to 7.2 million units in the U.S. and U.K. in its first 24 hours of availability. This figure will match or exceed the numbers Modern Warfare 3 made last year, which managed to sell over 6.5 million copies within its first day.
While Modern Warfare 3 is considered to have the most-successful day one sales in the franchise's history, overall sales of last year's iteration are down compared to Black Ops 1, which is still considered to be the best-selling game of all-time in the franchise's history.
Are you liking Black Ops 2 so far? If so, which game mode are you playing the most? Are you plowing through the campaign first or is it a straight to killing the undead for you? If you're like me, then chances are you've already dipped your feet at the game's multiplayer. What do you make of it so far?
Thanks, GameSpot
