Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story Dev Retires

November 8, 2012 by Jeanine Celestin-Greer

Matsuno leaves Level-5

It’s a shame to see talent leave the industry, if only for a moment. But due to personal reasons, game designer Yasumi Matsuno is leaving Level-5, just about a year after joining. He also said he would be taking a break in general, so it is unknown what is current plans are.  Matsuno said he also believes the time is good because of the recent domestic international releases of the 3DS collection, Crimson Shroud.

The info comes from a translated tweet via GI. Matsuno said, "Even though it was for a short period of time, I was able to work hard without any gross mistakes. I am extremely grateful for the gift of genial teaching I received from everyone. Over and over again, thank you so much. I plan on taking a break for a while. I'm very thankful to have your support from now on."

Both Vagrant Story and Final Fantasy Tactics have been praised by players for their story and hold special places in the hearts of some gamers, so let’s hope Matsuno gets through whatever he is going through and can go back to making great games soon.
