Assassin’s Creed 3 Sells Over 3.5 Million Copies In First Week of Release

November 6, 2012 by Alex Co

Ubisoft reveals that their estimates peg Assassin’s Creed 3’s first-week sales at over 3.5 million copies!

According to Ubisoft's financial earnings report for the first half of its 2013 fiscal year, Assassin's Creed 3 has sold more than 3.5 million units during its first week of release.

This estimate is more than double the number of sales Assassin's Creed: Revelations had in its first week in 2011.

While Assassin's Creed 3's sales didn't factor in Ubisoft's first half of 2013 fiscal report (ended September 30), it did contribute to the publisher's operating loss of $74.4 million due to the game's hefty marketing budget, along with Ubisoft's other third-quarter releases (Far Cry, ZombiU, etc.).

Speaking of their third-quarter, Ubisoft and the rest of the world will see Nintendo's Wii U launch within this time period. And Ubisoft believes that their seven launch titles, which includes ZombiU, make it "well-positioned to reap the benefits of what is expected to be a very strong launch." Adding this with AC3's sales and Ubisoft has raised its second-half-year sales estimates from between €1.16 billion and €1.20 billion to between €1.20 billion and €1.26 billion.

Additonally, Ubisoft is predicting that third-quarter sales will come in between  €740 million and €800 million, which is a significant jump from 13 percent to 23 percent year-on-year.

So, are you one of the more than 3.5 million people who bought Assassin's Creed 3? While that's a healthy sales number, do keep in mind that the game hasn't even been released on the PC and Wii U yet. For those waiting on those platforms before they jump in for Connor's adventures, AC3 will ship on November 20 for PC, while it will be available day-and-date as the Wii U's launch on November 18.
