Until Dawn is from the only game to have capitalised on the Halloween fun by releasing a spooky trailer yesterday, but it is one of the most appropriate. After all, Halloween is about things that go bump in the night (or it was before it was about candy), and this Teen Horror-inspired game does look pretty scary, though the big question is whether the PlayStation Move controls will enhance or dilute the fear factor.
The trailer is just a teaser, but it does let us know that the game is fully aware that it is cashing in on Teen Horror cliches and doesn't care one bit. We've got a spooky, isolated house, blood on the walls, and a guy tied to a chair and about to be sawn in half. “If you want your friend to live,” the ghostly text reads, “Follow my instructions carefully.”
The website for Until Dawn says that the protagonists in the game have chosen to visit the site of their friends' disappearance on the anniversary of the event, which will probably make players less inclined to pity them their no doubt sordid fates, though the coolest thing we know about this game is that it has multiple endings in which different characters live or die. Think the guy in the trailer has a chance?
