Gearbox Announce SHiFT Code Release Dates & Times

October 25, 2012 by Jeanine Celestin-Greer

Finally, you can stop staring at your computer

UPDATE: You can get the codes by watching or following Gearbox President Randy Pitchford or following the Gearbox Software Facebook page. You can also try following Gearbox Software on Twitter for good measure, as they have posted a few codes in the past when Pitchford didn't.

ORIGINAL: The Borderlands 2 SHiFT codes are really something cool. You sign up for a free program, sign into it when you load up the game and input these nifty codes. Then the codes give you a golden key, which in turn opens a treasure chest of overpowered loot. It's pretty cool and it’s no wonder that they go fast.

But they can be kind of hard to catch and I personally have cursed at myself on a few occasions for seeing them right after they expired, or forgetting to check Twitter altogether. Gearbox so kindly has given us all release dates for their next codes–but now that we all know about it, the competition to get one of the limited number of keys will be all the more fierce. Still, it's our job to let you know, so we'll just have to hope that Gearbox is going to have hundreds of thousands of redemptions.

Here's the dates and times (all in Central time):

  • Friday, October 26 – 6PM CT
  • Friday, October 26 – 11PM CT
  • Saturday, October 27 – 5AM CT
  • Saturday, October 27 – 11AM CT
  • Saturday, October 27 – 3PM CT

Each code will be active for three hours from its initial posting and will be usable once per account. Good luck!
