Ubisoft has announced that Assassin's Creed 3 is the publisher's most pre-ordered game ever. According to the company, pre-orders for the game across PS3, Xbox 360 and PC platforms have more than doubled those of last year's Assassin's Creed Revelations, which previously held the record.
“Pre-orders for Assassin’s Creed III at GameStop are nearly 100% higher than last year, putting the game on track to be one of the top titles of 2012,” said Tony Bartel, president of GameStop. “In addition, Ubisoft is offering high quality DLC available at launch to bring even more excitement to this title.”
Assassin's Creed 3 is the latest installment to the long-running franchise and will be released alongside a full fledged PS Vita title, Assassin's Creed 3 Liberation. The game is set during the American Revolution in the mid to late 18th century period as Assassins take on the Templar in their own secret war behind the historical events.
“Assassin’s Creed III is one of the most anticipated games of the year and this impressive pre-order mark is just a hint of the game’s potential,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales & marketing, Ubisoft. “When players discover the new features, historical period, characters and gaming experience that the development team has worked so hard to create, we’re confident that they will agree that this is the biggest, best Assassin’s Creed game yet.”
Fans of Assassin's Creed can also purchase a Season Pass to gain access to "The Tyranny of King Washington", a new single-player campaign for the game told through three episodic content packs.
