PlanetSide 2 Gets a Release Date

October 19, 2012 by Jeanine Celestin-Greer

The MMO FPS finally gets a release date

In an update on the FPS' official website, Sony Online Entertainment has confirmed the release date for November 20, 2012. PlanetSide 2 is a new free-to-play PC game, joining the likes of League of Legends and Star Wars: The Old Republic. Only it's a strategy shooter that takes place on a very large open world map. If you're not up to date on it, basically it is a sequel to PlanetSide that will offer "massive warfare, massive customization and massive community."

The game has been in beta for quite a while now, but it is unknown if it will truly be ready for launch when the time comes. In the past the beta had been pushed back a few times due to "unforeseen circumstances". For $39.99 right now, you can get instant access to beta and become an "Alpha Squad member". You will also gain other benefits like in-game money, 10% XP boost and 12 weapon unlocks.

You can view the trailer for PlanetSide 2 below.
