Project Eternity Breaks $4M Stretch Goal

October 18, 2012 by Ian Miles Cheong

Project Eternity is Kickstarter’s most successful games project ever.

Project Eternity

Obsidian Entertainment has managed one of the most successful Kickstarter projects to date with Project Eternity. The project has, in all, managed to earn $4 million through both Kickstarter and PayPal, overtaking Double Fine Adventure. The game is Kickstarter’s best-funded games project.

The $4M stretch goal adds live instrumentation to the game’s soundtrack, in-game developer commentary, and a promise to use every dollar from $3.5m to $4m to enhance the game. Additionally, the game’s lead writer Chris Avellone will be forced to play Arcanum and enjoy (or suffer through) all of its quirks.

Additionally, 13 levels of the Mega Dungeon, “The Endless Paths” have been unlocked thanks to the number of backers for the game. You can extend it to 14 levels if you hit the “Like” button on their Facebook page.

Obsidian revealed the totals for Project Eternity in a backer update posted today.

Kickstarter

Backers: 73,986
Pledged: $3,986,929

PayPal
Backers: 3,681
Pledged: $176,279

Totals
Backers: 77,667
Pledged: $4,163,208

We’ll be speaking to Chris Avellone in an interview soon, so be sure to check back with us.
