FIFA has, once again, taken a strong leap forward in the form of FIFA 11, with realistic gameplay, dazzling visuals, various new inclusions such as 11-vs-11 online play to name a few. A large portion of FIFA veterans, as well as new players, will undoubtedly be blown away with FIFA 11′s realism and satisfying gameplay; it’s staggering to notice the amount of polish and improvement the latest iteration of FIFA has received, but it’s something you really must experience in order to truly understand.

FIFA 11 doesn’t redefine the football game, nor does it bring with it bold or surprising ways to play. What it does, however, is refine an already superlative game, taking nearly every aspect and polishing it to help create a whole that’s notably superior to its predecessors. It’s excellence, not innovation, that wins out, and that’s surely no bad thing; for the next twelve months at least this is likely to be the best football experience available, and FIFA’s looking like retaining its crown in convincing fashion.

FIFA 11, has seen some significant improvements over last years version, most of which come in the gameplay mechanics. The focus seems to have been set on creating the most authentic football game ever, and I’m pleased to say that FIFA 11 easily achieves this. The level of realism on show in the game is unprecedented and is sure to keep FIFA 11 firmly at the top
of its game.

FIFA 11 is for true soccer fanatics and if you’re looking for an arcade experience, unfortunately now is the time to look elsewhere for your soccer fun. The realism has been upped as have the unpredictability of the players. You could argue that FIFA 11 doesn’t do enough to warrant a purchase if you already own FIFA 10, but small changes on paper have made for some significant differences on the pitch. FIFA 11 feels far more realistic than its predecessor, while also packing in a smattering of new features. Yes, you could get by with last year’s game, but you will be missing out on what will probably be the best sports game of 2010.

The latest edition of FIFA may not be that different from the last but the subtle improvements make it play so much better. This really is the best version yet.

Ultimately, how much you enjoy the sport will directly influence how much you get out of FIFA 11. It’s another solid game from a development team that cares deeply about the sport, but for the first time in years, FIFA feels like the same game I just played last year.

At its best FIFA 11 is enormous fun and brilliantly engineered, but in its battle to be more varied and realistic it has lost some of its momentum, and off the pitch returns are starting to diminish too.

There is plenty of content and this game is astonishing for a soccer title. I like how EA kept saying that it’s ‘authentic,’ and now I believe them, this game is absolutely authentic in every sense of the word. If you’re a FIFA fan, you have absolutely no reason to not pick this game up!
