July is gone, but now is not the time to mourn! An excellent month for games, it’s time to make sure that you grabbed all of the best titles that were released last month. Here are our picks for the best new games of July 2022:

#10 Stray

Platform: PS4, PS5, PC

Release Date: July 19, 2022

Stray is the science-fiction game that you didn’t know you needed to play, and possibly the most unusual one around. Set in a futuristic secret city hidden beneath ruins, a stray cat finds itself trapped in a world that is completely foreign. The aesthetics of this city were supposedly influenced by Kowloon Walled City, an ungoverned and densely populated Chinese enclave in British-ruled Hong Kong. Not only is the setting incredibly futuristic, it still harbors the grime and dirt of a super city from our very own Earth – calling this the perfect playground for an adventurous stray cat would be an understatement.

#9 Madison

Platform: Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS5, XSX|S

Release Date: July 8, 2022

This game is so freaky that we’re going to be very light on the details. After all, we don’t want to upset anything that might be sensing this post.

Madison is a straight-up psychological horror game with lots of gore and scary elements, so if that’s not your thing, stay far, far away. You play as a young man named Luca who has been roped into a sinister ritual by a demon and now has to endure the results of that decision.

#8 Digimon Survive

Platform: Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PC

Release Date: July 29, 2022

The Digimon franchise enduring for over this long has proven how much its fans care about it, and whether Bandai Namco wants to promote it or not, Digimon Survive is a title that many have been looking forward to.

In this unique visual novel meets tactical RPG, you’ll play as a young man from summer camp who finds himself in the digital world. Now, alongside his new Digimon partner and fellow friends, he must work his way back to the world he knows and quite literally survive the experience.

#7 F1 22

Platform: PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS5, XSX|S

Release Date: July 1, 2022

Are you ready to race? F1 22 is finally out, and that means it’s time to go and get in line with the other racers to start the newest season of the racing franchise.

If you’ve played these games in the past, you know what’s in store. You’ll be put into one of the racing clubs of F1 and will go around the world as you race from one track to the next in order to try and come out on top in the overall competition. Do you think you can go toe to toe with some of the best in the world? Or do you want to take on your friends to see who is the best racer amongst you?

#6 Azure Striker Gunvolt 3

Platform: Switch

Release Date: July 28, 2022

The Azure Striker Gunvolt franchise is a callback to the video games of old, all the while giving fans all sorts of high-octane action and a deep story to boot. Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 is apparently the “most extravagant” entry in the franchise so far, so make of that what you will.

You’ll play as two different characters –new character Kirin and the original Gunvolt–as you blast through an engaging story across multiple battles and areas. You’ll also be able to do summons for the first time, bringing in others from Gunvolt’s own memories. Jump in if you’re ready for a fast-paced adventure.

#5 Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Platform: Switch

Release Date: July 29, 2022

In Xenoblade Chronicles 3, the latest entry in the hit franchise on Nintendo Switch, you’ll be asked some tough questions. We’re sure that fans of the series are already familiar.

This deep RPG experience takes you to the realm of Aionios, where two nations fight in a war that has no end and where each side is just desperate to live through their 10 years of life. But when two groups of rival soldiers meet and fate intervenes, they must go on a desperate quest to save their colonies, and their world by proving that no one needs to fight at all.

#4 Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series

Platform: PC Xbox One XSX|S PS5 PS4 Switch

Release Date: July 8, 2022

One of the beautiful things about our gaming space right now is the fact that we’re able to enjoy games from the past on modern systems and see them with a bit of an upgrade. If you don’t believe us, check out the Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series. Some of you likely have forgotten about Klonoa, but this dev team didn’t!

The Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series brings together the first two titles in the Klonoa line and improves them a bit so that you can relive the character’s exciting platforming adventures. Those who just want some fun puzzles to solve in a bright and colorful world won’t be disappointed with this release.

#3 Dungeon Munchies

Platform: PC, Switch

Release Date: July 27, 2022

In Dungeon Munchies, you wake up in a massive underground complex, and the only way to get out is by taking down monsters and eating them. Don’t worry, you’re not cooking them yourself–you have the help of a “necro-chef,” and this chef will cook up the monsters in a way that’ll ensure that you get special abilities! With all sorts of different meals to have, you can have a wide array of talents, and you’ll need to take advantage of those talents to both fight and escape!

#2 Dinkum

Platform: PC

Release Date: July 14, 2022

If you’re looking for a simple game to play that will let you embrace your creativity, Dinkum is for you.

This city-building game, inspired by Australia and created by a single person, lets you build up your city from the ground up. Make it vast, make it beautiful, as long as it’s yours, that’s what matters. This game is a blend of Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing, and while it’s still in early access, it plays like a full release. Be sure to join the game’s Discord channel to give feedback and chat with other fans! Yes, this game also allows multiplayer.

#1 Fire & Maneuver

Platform: PC

Release Date: July 16, 2022

War games are a dime a dozen, but how many of them were made by history buffs who went to painstaking lengths in order to ensure accuracy across the entirety of the game? Fire & Maneuver is that game, because in it, you’ll be a part of Victorian-era battles, and partake in them as if you truly were the general in charge. Every move you make on the battlefield can have massive ramifications, so be mindful as you give out your orders.

You’ll see the authenticity of the game from top to bottom as you play against friends or in the campaign mode. Hop in and see how you’d truly do in a war.

Bonus Games

PowerWash Simulator

Platform : PC Xbox One XSX|S

Release Date: July 14, 2022

PowerWash Simulator is easily one of the more unique games you’ll find on the market right now, and that’s no joke.

As the name insinuates, PowerWash Simulator is all about you getting a powerwasher and then going to town on whatever you want to clean. Though to be clear, the goal is actually to clean things–you’ll even get to set up a business where you get to clean bigger and better things if you do well. You can even have powerwash duels with friends to see who can clean the best. Doesn’t this just sound like a blast?

As Dusk Falls

Platform: PC, Xbox One, XSX|S

Release Date: July 19, 2022

They say that fate likes to keep people intertwined, and with As Dusk Falls, you’ll get to experience that firsthand via a small town in Arizona. Two families will give you a very unique storytelling experience.

You see, you won’t just be playing as characters in one time period–you’ll see how these two families affect each other across the course of 30 years. That means that the choices you make, no matter which family you play, will have an impact as things progress. With multiple endings and perspectives to choose from, you’ll want to play it again and again to see all sides.
