Chapter 8 in Portal 2 features the most complicated puzzles in the entire Portal: Companion Collection thanks to the fact that it’s the final chapter of regular test chambers. Because of this, Chapter 8 combines every single testing element that the player has encountered so far making for some of the most challenging puzzles in gaming.
Before it starts combining puzzle elements together, however, it introduces the excursion funnel in Test Chamber 01. The first test with the funnels is a brief introduction to them, but the second starts testing the player’s ability to apply them. How to Solve Test Chamber 02 in Portal 2
Wheatley’s second test chamber is entirely focused on the excursion funnel. When you first enter the room, you’ll notice that it has no floor. Instead, a singular funnel below is pushing into the wall on the opposite side of the entrance. Jump into the funnel.
Once inside the funnel, shoot your first portal on the wall that it’s pushing you into. Then, look to your left and shoot your second portal onto the far wall. Let the funnel push you through your first portal and across the room. As you float through your first portal, you’ll notice a patch of portalable walls to your left. As soon as you’re positioned directly across from them, shoot your second portal there, causing the funnel to be repositioned and moving you perpendicular to the direction you were previously heading.
As soon as you hit the far wall, look down. You’ll find a portalable checkered tile below you. Shoot your second portal on it, ride the funnel up, and then jump out of the funnel onto the platform with the button on it.
On the platform you’re currently on, you’ll notice a button and a pressure tile on the ceiling. The current goal is to get a cube to weigh down the pressure tile using an excursion funnel. Take note of where the cube pipe is across the room from you. Because it lines up perfectly with the vertical portalable tiles beneath it, you’ll be able to use the funnel to move the cube without you needing to be underneath the pipe to grab it. Place your second portal on the wall under the pipe and hit the button.
As soon as the turret-cube hits the wall, place your second portal underneath it on the checkered tile. It will float up to your platform where you can pick it up.
Drop the cube on the floor (far from the edge as they tend to jump around a little bit) and place your second portal on the tile underneath the pressure tile. With the funnel surrounding the pressure tile, drop the cube into it, wait for it to float to the top and press the tile down, and then go to the exit door.
