This morning, Riot Games released the details surrounding the return of Star Guardian. This League of Legends alternate universe is a love letter to all things magical girls. Various Champions are thrust into this world, attending school by day and saving the world by night. This is the fourth installment in the Star Guardian universe and will offer content through League of Legends, League of Legends: Wild Rift, and Legends of Runeterra.

Launch Date & Events

Star Guardian will begin on July 14 and last for 10 weeks across all three League titles. During that time, Riot aims to engage fans both online and IRL. There will be official Star Guardian merch, featuring partners such as Good Smile Company (best known for Nendoroid figures), Secretlab, and RockLove Jewelry.

Additionally, Riot will continuously contribute to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund throughout the event. From July 14 to August 15, Riot will contribute 20% of Star Guardian Event Pass proceeds to the fund. Then, from July 28 to August 29, Riot will contribute 100% of proceeds relating to Star Guardian Taliyah. This includes Taliyah’s skin, border set, Chroma Bundle, and All-Star Bundle. So if you want to grab at least one skin from the Star Guardian event and contribute to a good cause, you can do that!

Finally, a brand new song and music video will be released on July 14. Written, produced, and sung by Porter Robinson, the song “Everything Goes On” will serve as the event’s anthem. The music video will premiere on YouTube and the song will be available across all major streaming platforms.

League of Legends

The main game will be releasing 12 new skins plus a new champion, Nilah. There will also be a Star Guardian Event Pass and new Emotes, Chomas, and Wards. The Ultimate Spellbook game mode will also make a return. Finally, players will experience a brand new Star Guardian story. This crew will be led by Akali and Kai’Sa and players will have the opportunity to unlock stories that increase character “bonds” throughout the event.
