Battlefield 1942, originally released in 2002, is set during World War II. The game was a huge hit but not for its storyline. Instead, gamers flocked to the game for the insane gameplay action and the team-based combat that allowed players to work together when facing other groups of gamers online. Similar to the latest installments of the video game franchise, Battlefield 1942 allows players to operate iconic war machines which resulted in chaotic but incredibly fun gameplay that is still featured in the Battlefield franchise today.
