Top 5 New Survival Games Coming in 2020

2020 is almost here and there are a ton of great video game titles to enjoy already along with a slew of games we can’t wait to get our hands on. In this list, we’re going to showcase some of our most anticipated survival titles that are slated or expected to launch before the end of next year. If you’re looking for some games to mark down on your calendars then take a look some of these upcoming releases.


#5 Wild

It’s anyone’s guess as to if WiLD will release into the market. This game has been talked about and shown off since 2014 and now that we’re approaching the end years of the PlayStation 4, rumors are saying WiLD may be bumped to a PlayStation 5 exclusive. Regardless, this survival action game is still one that gamers can’t wait to get their hands on. Overall, the world procedurally generated while players take the role of a man set in the prehistoric Neolithic period. Within the game, players will have to scavenge for food and items to stay alive, but there is also the added ability to seek out the help of animals within the wild to aid you in your journey.

Again, this game has been around for several years with no real big updates to the development process. Most will even label the game as a title suck in development hell, but so far there is no indication of it being killed off or cancelled. Perhaps this will be the year we’ll finally get new information and concrete release date.

System Shock is a remake of a 1994 video game released with the same name. This is a first-person action-adventure style video game where players take the role of a hacker who is stuck on a space station facing against a rogue artificial intelligence named SHODAN who is planning to destroy all the major cities on the planet.

Overall, the gameplay will remain the same from the original 1994 release. Players will be going through the title with some survival elements attached as well. As you progress through the campaign you’ll need to be on the lookout for resources to keep your character in good health along with having the necessary weapons to deal with the enemies ahead. There will even be a crafting mechanic attached where players can build up items through the materials you collect throughout the space station. 

#3 Last Oasis

Last Oasis is a survival MMO game where players take the role of a nomad. When the planet stopped rotating, two halves became unbearable to live within. One side is being demolished by the intense heat of the sun while the opposite end is becoming a tundra. Now only a small area of a safe land that can support life where players need to reach. 

To make it, you’ll need to survive by gathering resources and crafting equipment. After all, there are both hostile environments and other players on the same journey. Furthermore, there is a new system of movement known as Walkers. Humanity has crafted large wooden structures that can move through wind power and players will even give the ability to make various upgrades to the Walker. 

Make sure to be careful as you venture out as again, there may be hostile players also seeking resources or the goods you may be holding. With that said, there will be a player-driven economy where traders can make some quick cash. From the sound of things, players can farm rare items to sell in order to make a profit or even attempt to establish a monopoly on the virtual economy. 

#2 Away: the survival series

Away: The Survival Series is a unique survival game that was inspired by nature documentaries. In this game, players take on the role of a sugar glider who is escaping the storms hitting the open world. Natural disasters have begun to threaten the survival of all living life on the planet and being a sugar glider, you will need to carefully maneuver around the world to stay alive.

Overall, the game focuses on making your way to avoid being devoured by the animals who reside at the top of the food chain. However, being a small sugar glider, you can glide, jump, climb and agility. Created by an indie development studio known as Breaking Walls, there are several industry veterans attached to the project that has worked on several big AAA video game franchises such as Assassin’s Creed to Far Cry. 

#1 Dying Light 2

Dying Light 2 is a survival horror game where humanity is on the downfall as the world is now ruled by the undead. Similar to the first installment, Dying Light 2 focuses on parkour melee combat as players dwell in The City, a safe area behind walls from the dead. 

Another element that players will have to deal with is the factions inside The City. There will be a slew of choices available that may hurt your relations with certain groups in The City and it could even alter the location completely. Luckily, you don’t have to go through this game all alone. There will be an online four-player cooperative multiplayer which may make surviving in this game a bit easier to manage.
