Control: Get An Unlimited Ammo Mod With This Hidden Furnace Easter Egg

August 29, 2019 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Hunt down all six hidden TVs and earn a Grip mod that practically gives you infinite ammo with this weird Easter egg quest.

Get unlimited ammo for your pistol with this blazing hot Easter egg hidden away in Control.

As if this game wasn’t weird enough, it’s jam-packed with weird little Easter egg quests you can complete for big rewards. They’re all extremely well-hidden, and this is one of the most hidden secrets we’ve found so far. It involves six ‘fire’ TVs, and burning all of them gets you a secret weapon mod that gives your Grip a bottomless amount of ammo — if you’re a good shot.

The reward here is a weapon mod called the ‘Eternal Flame’; equipping it to your Grip, the only weapon variant it works for, gives you 100% ammo refund on hit. That means you’ll be refunding one shot for every shot you hit. You’ll never have to reload if you’re shooting straight, and that’s incredibly useful against the biggest, baddest enemies in the game.

Get An Unlimited Ammo Mod With This Hidden Furnace Easter Egg

To unlock the ‘Eternal Fire‘ Weapon Mod, which gives you 100% ammo refund on hit for your Grip — essentially giving you infinite ammo as long as you land every shot — you’ll need to complete a strange Easter egg quest in the Maintenance Sector.

NOTE: Levitate is required to collect all six TVs.

In the Furnace Chamber, you need to throw six unique TVs into the flames. The TVs have pictures of fire on them, and spew smoke — burning all six will give you the Eternal Fire weapon mod.

To find them all, check the hidden locations below. They’re tricky to find, so consult the gallery for (hopefully!) a better look.

  • Fire TV #1: Furnace Chamber – To the left as you enter the Furnace Chamber, on the tall shelves.
  • Fire TV #2: Furnace Chamber – To the right as you enter the Furnace Chamber, jump into the opening high above the shelves. Inside, you’ll find the TV behind a fence. Hover to pull the TV through the small gap above the fence.
  • Fire TV #3: From the NSC Power Plant, enter the grey hallway leading to the Furnace Chamber. To the right, there’s a small maintenance room containing one of the TVs.
  • Fire TV #4: NSC Power Plant – Enter the doors to the NSC Power Plant from the Furnace Chamber path, look straight ahead and you’ll be able to find the TV next to a huge pipe section on the upper level.
  • Fire TV #5: NSC Coolant Pumps – Take the elevator down to the NSC Coolant Pumps from the NSC Power Plant, and then turn left. Look up and you’ll be able to find a TV sitting next to one of the large pipes, near a vent-shaped box.
  • Fire TV #6: NSC Power Plant – The final TV is at the very top of the NSC Power Plant structure. Just climb up to the top to spot it.

Find all six TVs and throw them into the Furnace Chamber fires to unlock the special Grip Mod — Eternal Flame lets you keep shooting endlessly if you don’t miss. This is especially useful against giant targets that you seriously can’t miss. It’s only for the Grip Variation, but that’s the first variant you can fully upgrade to Lvl. 3 — it still lets you shoot like mad.
