YUMENIKKI -Dream Diary-: Secrets Guide | Hidden Ending & Jellyfish Locations

February 28, 2018 by Kevin Thielenhaus

The new YUMENIKKI is full of nightmarish imagery, and a few secrets you might miss along the way — including a hidden ending.

The legendary Yume Nikki returns via a side-scrolling reimagining, YUMENIKKI -Dream Diary-, and it isn’t a simple remake. This is a sequel, a side-game, another entry in the property with only the connective tissue intact. You’re still a girl trapped in her room, able to access doors in her dreams that lead to surreal (and sometimes terrifying) realms. And, like that mercurial original, there are some secrets to discover.

While there aren’t as many odd interactions, you’ll still find some worthwhile secrets in Dream Diary. There’s an optional, hidden ending you can access, strange jellyfish collectibles to find, and more. You’ll even get access to a knife, just like the original, and you’re free to stab innocent dream-beings with impunity. It’s just a dream, right? We won’t judge.

Secrets Guide

Spoiler Warning: Before continuing, I recommend playing through the complete story. It’s a short game, so save the secrets for subsequent playthroughs.

Jellyfish Locations:

  • Docks World: From the Nexus, enter the Docks and turn left right at the start. Jump left and glide using the umbrella as far as you can.
  • City Street World: From the Nexus, enter the city door and immediately turn left. Just run left to find it.
  • Ghost Town World: In the Ghost Town, you’ll need to trap a strange orb. After that, a door will open near the entrance to this world, in an alleyway. Go through the newly opened door.
  • Mall World: To access this jellyfish, you’ll need the rooftop key. Enter the Mannequin Room then the box warehouse. Reach the secret path above the warehouse entrance and use the lamp to navigate the dark Mannequin Room above. Go left to find the rooftop key. Return to the start of the Mall and go through the door near the world entrance that leads to an elevator. Ride up and unlock the door at the top.
  • Red School World: Search the ruined school until you find a chalkboard with a hand symbol. Use the hand special effect to gain a key. Return to the normal (non-ruined) school. Go to the top floor and unlock the restroom door to find the last jellyfish.

Hidden Ending

After finding all the jellyfish, you’ll be able to access the hidden ending. Enter the Nexus from your bed, and find the door that leads to the normal ending — go inside.

You’ll return to your room. Go back to the hallway, and the lights will go out. Move to the elevator, but don’t go inside — instead, go to the second-to-last door in the hallway and enter. There’s a room with strange glowing Venus symbols on the wall. Touch symbols.

Leave and go to the elevator. Ride up and exit to the roof — there’s a huge storm brewing outside. From the roof, go left to find another triangle of Venus symbols. Touch these too.

And voila! You’ll appear on a spaceship (??) and Seccom Masada (not an official name) appears with a giant piano! This is a (secret) character that appeared in the original Yume Nikki. A white-skinned strange humanoid creature with black hair and a black suit, he’ll play a song for you — press [A][Y][X] on an Xbox Controller to make him repeat the song.

After that, you can lay down in the nearby bed to end the game.
